Ever since New York has passed their anti-second amendment gun legislation, firearms manufacturers in the state are instituting a policy of selling to state and local governments only those guns that are available to the public. Serbu Firearms is the latest to join the list. Here’s an email exchange between the NYPD and the owner of the company:

Thank goodness there are still some judges that will protect our personal liberties against nanny-state meddlers like Mayor Doomberg. If they can get away with limiting the size of soda we can buy, and whether we can have salt on our food, and whether you can smoke (admittedly, a poor health decision, but still a personal choice), they can get away with anything. To some extent, in some places, they have: you cannot (or it’s very difficult and expensive to) keep a gun for self defense (though the second amendment clearly says you can), and you must buy health insurance or be fined. Why is it that liberal do-gooders like Doomberg think they know better than we do what’s good for us? The gradual chipping away of personal liberty in the name of “the public good” results in the situation where -all of a sudden- we’re in a police state, and nobody really knows what happened. Thank you, Judge Tingling.

Surprised? Not really. Everything about Obama is a fraud.
A Texas Republican on Monday said President Obama’s gun control campaign is a fraud based on fake messages over Twitter. Rep. Steve Stockman R-Texas accused Obama of trying to make support for his position look stronger than it really is by flooding Twitter with messages from people who don’t exist.

I guess BarackO will have to whip out the executive orders, which he was probably planning on doing all along – though some think it’s grounds for impeachment, while others have already drawn up the articles (the reality is the RINOs in Congress wouldn’t have the stones to do it). We should be so lucky.

And, more than twice as many people are killed with hands and fists than are killed with rifles. Could it be that people really kill other people, with whatever they can find, and the Democrat’s attempt to ban certain types of rifles is really just misguided self-serving demagoguery? The Reverend Al Sharpton wanted to go after knives after they ban handguns and rifles. What’s next? Licenses to carry an assault hammer?

Petitions require 25,000 signatures to get the White House to respond. This one has gone way past that. Send the blowhard back to England, where they’ve confiscated all the guns, and the crime rate is soaring. The White House’s response will be something like” this is part of the ‘conversation’ on gun control” or something similarly vapid, but it’s nice to know a lot of people would like to see him sent packing.

The NRA’s Chris Cox did an interview with Mitt Romney, and asked several questions that gun owners are concerned about (my bold emphasis in the comments)

One more reason why it’s good for citizens to be armed to protect themselves, and others.
Two worthless thugs entered the internet cafe in Ocala, Florida, with guns drawn, presumably to rob the business and its customers. Samuel Williams, who has a concealed carry license, drew his weapon and shot both of the robbers, wounding them. No charges will be filed against Williams, who was acting in accordance with the Florida self-defense laws (from Gainesville.com).

The city fathers in Chicago decided some years ago that it should be against the law -despite the protections afforded in the 2nd Amendment of the Constitution- for citizens to keep and and bear arms, and to carry a concealed weapon. That ill-advised decision continues to reap a harvest of chaos and carnage. You see, when you pass a law that keeps law-abiding citizens from carrying weapons, it doesn’t do anything to prevent law-breakers from carrying them, leaving the law-abiding at their mercy. So far this year, 324 homicides have been perpetrated – 276 by gunshot. Countless others have been injured in shootings.

Bill Whittle poses an essential question in the debate about gun control: “If guns cause crime and murder, why do the places with the most legally owned firearms have such low crime rates? ... lengthy pause… I can wait.” This short presentation in his “What We Believe” series lays out the rationale for the Second Amendment to the Constitution, and explains why it cannot be abrogated without significant harm to the American way of life.
