right to bear arms

As gun ownership has skyrocketed since 1993, gun-related crimes have plummeted in the U.S. Homicides involving guns are down 39%, and other crimes involving firearms are down 69%, yet 56% of Americans still believe that gun crimes are up since the 1990’s. This is according to a Pew Research study published in May.

She’s introducing a “gun control” bill into the Senate when they come back in January. What she really wants, as recorded in 1995, is for “Mr. and Mrs. America to turn in their guns”.

One more reason why it’s good for citizens to be armed to protect themselves, and others.
Two worthless thugs entered the internet cafe in Ocala, Florida, with guns drawn, presumably to rob the business and its customers. Samuel Williams, who has a concealed carry license, drew his weapon and shot both of the robbers, wounding them. No charges will be filed against Williams, who was acting in accordance with the Florida self-defense laws (from Gainesville.com).

That’s my favorite line from Ted Nugent’s editorial in the Washington Times from yesterday morning. Hours before being cleared by the Secret Service of making “threats against the president”, Nugent spends some time railing against the “Alinsky Rules for Radicals left-wing media” and the “terminally liberal Democrats”:
If You Believe the 2nd Amendment Protects Your Right to Keep and Bear Arms, the 2012 Election is Critical

Why? Because the next president will likely make a couple of appointments to the Supreme Court. If (zero)bama holds onto the office, he will likely appoint more justices like radical lefty Elena Kagan, and the Constitutionally-guaranteed right to keep and bear arms will be in danger. If that happens, your right to defend yourself, your family, and your property will be seriously compromised.

They gotta start somewhere, right? It’s ridiculous that state and local governments can usurp rights granted by the U.S. Constitution. What’s worse is they actually think that restricting the citizens’ right to carry a firearm is helping to reduce crime. Nope; it’s just letting the criminals (who are quite unconcerned with concealed carry laws, or any laws, for that matter) have free rein within these jurisdictions.
