What ever happened to the idea that a person has a right to defend himself, his family, and his property from criminals? We’ve become so anti-gun that we’re dispensing that kind of stupid advice to potential crime victims. Of course, states like Maryland want to make it as hard as possible for law-abiding citizens to avail themselves of their second amendment rights. If more people were carrying, and more criminals were aware of it, maybe they’d think twice about punching someone in the face and trying to steal their purse.

They might not have deserved it, but they made a decision, and it was a bad one. A person who’s been burgled twice before has a right to defend themselves, and their property. If more people owned guns -and criminals knew it- the burglars might think twice about breaking into someone’s home.

The idea that trained military personnel aren’t allowed to carry military-issue weapons on military bases almost seems insane, doesn’t it? Yet this seemingly insane policy has helped contribute to the body count at two U.S. military bases in recent memory (and countless other “gun-free” locations like VT and Newtown). The anti-gun crowd remains steadfastly opposed to the idea that law-abiding, gun-carrying citizens (or even trained military personnel) would have ended these situations a lot sooner. Here is more evidence.

Colorado had a recall election this week, and two democrat senators who voted for the state’s new gun-control laws were turned out by the voters. One of them -Angela Giron- can’t accept the truth that voters did not want these laws, and instead makes an ass of herself claiming the real reason for her defeat was voter suppression. It’s laughable, and the editorial board of the Denver Post tells her so.

As gun ownership has skyrocketed since 1993, gun-related crimes have plummeted in the U.S. Homicides involving guns are down 39%, and other crimes involving firearms are down 69%, yet 56% of Americans still believe that gun crimes are up since the 1990′s. This is according to a Pew Research study published in May.

That’ll learn ya. Don’t listen to anything that idiot says.
A Washington state man who fired a shotgun to scare away possible car prowlers from his property was arraigned Wednesday for illegal discharging of a firearm, and he cited Vice President Joe Biden’s public advice about shooting such weapons in the air in his defense.

Thanks for letting us benighted knuckledraggers know the opinion of an enlightened elite like yourself, Mayor Doomberg. No thanks; I think we’ll keep the Constitution -in particular the 2nd Amendment- just like it is. Ben Franklin said it best: They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety, deserve neither liberty nor safety.

And this is news? This is almost too stupid to waste print on. Gee, I can’t imagine why these murderous jihadis didn’t bother to register their guns with the local police. Mystifying.

“You don’t have to be a rocket scientist to figure this out,” <sarc>said undoubtedly the smartest VP we’ve ever had.</sarc>
Actually, you DO need to be a rocket scientist to figure out how this bill would prevent even one of the shootings that’s already occurred, or any one in the future – because…it wouldn’t have, and it won’t. Those guns were acquired through legal channels. Three words: mental.health.system.

These statistics are pretty-well known to anyone who cares to look them up. Interesting presentation for the graphically-oriented fact gatherer. The ones about blunt objects and fists are amazing.
Welcome Ace of Spades HQ readers – thanks for the link, guys.

Because his career’s in the dumps, and he needs to do something to get attention. So says Daniel Greenfield in a post at FrontPageMag, and I’m inclined to agree with him. Carrey has indeed drawn attention for his crazed anti-gun rants, but he’s also guaranteed that a large portion of the population won’t watch his movies anymore (I’m a LOT less likely to watch one now). Not that many were still watching them anyway…

Even Dingy Harry had to had to acknowledge the truth: there’s no way in hell a bill like this could even pass the Democrat-controlled Senate, much less the House. Boo hoo.

Surprised? Not really. Everything about Obama is a fraud.
A Texas Republican on Monday said President Obama’s gun control campaign is a fraud based on fake messages over Twitter. Rep. Steve Stockman R-Texas accused Obama of trying to make support for his position look stronger than it really is by flooding Twitter with messages from people who don’t exist.

In fact, it ranks 18th on a list of issues that the Pew Research Center asked about. Say, that’s just a little above global warming, which was in last place. Seems lots of folks are concerned about the economy and our ever-burgeoning deficit (Not Obama, though, his work is “just about done“). Funny how much press the sycophant media is giving the gun issue, while the economy is “poised for growth,” according to Obama.
