This is a sturdy and attractive-looking watch. I’d wear it every day. It’s in my price range, too, at $350. It’s made from a special polymer that makes it 50% lighter than comparably-sized watches, and has a 10-year battery.

What is seen cannot be unseen. Do Secret Service agents really have to endure this? Apparently so. “Unnamed sources” kind of puts the story in doubt, but I guess there’s a lot of stuff that stays off-the-record when it comes to what the Secret Service sees.

I guess all the attendees weren’t on board with the objective of the rally, or something.
A circus parade and rally for nonviolence that drew hundreds of people to the Linwood Shopping Center on Tuesday evening had to be cut short when multiple fights broke out. Kansas City Police Chief Darryl Forté said the organizers stopped the event. He tweeted that the crowds dispersed and there were no reported injuries. But the fighting marred an event, called “Your Life Counts,” that was intended to celebrate survival in a city plagued by crime.

This isn’t in any way funny, but I had to post about it because of how ludicrous it sounds. Seems a prisoner in an English jail protested the “sweltering heat” in his cell by GOUGING HIS OWN EYES OUT. I guess he showed them. Notice the temperature listed in the article. There must be something else, right?

Abortion? Yeah, everybody should be able to get it on demand. Benghazi? So what if we all lied about that? What difference does it make? How many other things has she and the first black president (and I mean Bill, not Barack) lied about? She must have missed the part -in the Bible- about bearing false witness, or thou shalt not kill, and other inconvenient stuff like that. I don’t understand why so many people are ready to elect President a person who has achieved nothing. Absolutely nothing.

I took a walk along the floodwall on the James River to get some pics of downtown.

Putting aside the fact that BMI is a shitty measurement for evaluating body composition and overall health, subjecting young kids to this kind of fat-shaming is terrible. I loved the fact that the kids were told not to look at the assessment, but to give it directly to their parents. Did they think the parents were going to keep it secret from the kids?

Cool visualization of all the places in the U.S. where nobody lives. Granted, a lot of places where people don’t live are ones where they can’t live, but it’s still cool.

I can’t say I blame them – I wouldn’t want her there either. The Imperial Mrs. would probably
highjack the occasion to promote some political cause, in addition to effing up the seat allocations.

I used to love The Weather Channel. Every day it was the first thing I turned on when I get ready for work. I loved the “local on the 8′s” because I was sure I’d see the local forecast at least once while I was getting ready.

There’s a group of people who come here looking for…something. It has gotten smaller of late, and I’m having a hard time spending the time to find stuff to pass on, or about which to opine. It has gone on for a while now. There’s plenty of stuff to talk about, but I don’t have much of anything to say. I still get pissed off or care passionately about the stuff that I started this little soapbox for, and I yell about it from my even smaller soapbox in my own house, but they only want to hear so much before they tune me out.

This is pretty amazing. Watch as snowflakes form their six-sided crystalline shapes, from a tiny spot to fully formed. (via Colossal, where there’s some explanation of why snowflakes have six sides)

Go read this. Incredible that what was once considered normal -and expected- is now considered by the media to be “alternative.” The article is about freestyle skiing halfpipe gold medalist David Wise, who has -who can believe it- a wife and child at age 23.
