The Clueless Words of a Man Who Fears Guns, But Doesn’t Respect Them

Those were the words of Michael Bloomberg today. During a press conference, he was asked to respond to Representative Louie Gohmert’s comments over the weekend where he wished that the principal of the Sandy Hook school had a gun to confront the madman that killed her. Bloomberg replied:

“I don’t know what a gun would have done.”

Seriously? He doesn’t have any idea what she would have done with a gun? These are the words of some pantywaist that has never handled guns; who has never been trained to use a gun with confidence; who has never been taught that guns are self-defense tools for which you learn great respect, and hope you’ll never have to use against another person, but know you can if you must.

Here’s one scenario for the clueless Mayor Bloomberg: Dawn Hochsprung felt she might need to be prepared -one day- for an incident where somebody breaks into her school and threatens to harm her, or her students. She purchases a handgun to keep in her purse, gets the training necessary to use it with confidence, and gets the required permit to carry it concealed. No one knows she has it (except for the sheriff or constable to which she applied for the permit) – no one needs to know. She keeps it loaded in her purse, on the chance that something might happen.

On that fateful Friday, aware that someone brandishing a gun has entered the school, she reaches into her purse and grabs the weapon. When the madman comes into her office, menacing her with a gun, clearly intent on doing her harm – she shoots him dead. School assault over, and 26 people are not killed by some crazy lunatic.

That’s what a gun would have done, you moron. Instead, Dawn was forced to confront the lunatic with her hands.
