I really like the look of this Human Time Project watch. It is imminently affordable at only $95, and looks to be a solid piece of timekeeping equipment. A great additional feature of this watch is the buy one/give one program that HTP is conducting: for every watch you buy, they will donate the identical model to an an aid worker in a third-world country. From the HTP website:
A WATCH CAN SAVE A LIFE
From snakes bites and fevers to general famine or dehydration, the world’s poorest populations are in dire need of emergency care. In third world rural clinics, workers many times don’t have the proper equipment to treat an emergency. Among these basic tools are wristwatches. From medicine dispensation to emergency check-ups a watch is a vital tool in healthcare.
If anyone comes in with a poisonous bit or a trauma the medical worker needs to have an accurate instrument to measure time, not having one can mean the difference between life and death. Many times they go without.TIME TO HELP
The basic motor behind Human Time Project is you. Every time you buy a watch from us an exact model will be donated to fight this cause. It’s a great feeling, knowing that at the end of a day, with a minor purchase, you can make a difference in someone’s life.
HOW WE DONATE
We work with a diverse group of people to help us distribute our watches. By learning through our different NPO partners we have taken the time to select the proper organizations that are currently giving medical care to the poorest regions of the world and also monitor local corruption to make sure the watches go to good use.
We will be doing our first donation in Summer 2012 while partnering with other non profit organizations, dedicated to medical attention in Central, South America, African Congo region and Asia.
