Exxon just announced it has found 700 million barrels of oil at a well in the Gulf of Mexico. The well is located 250 miles south of New Orleans, in 7,000 feet of water. The question now is will the Obama (*DfOaLG) administration issue a permit to allow them to recover it? (from The Hill)
House Natural Resources Committee Chairman Doc Hastings (R-Wash.) applauded the discovery Wednesday and argued it shows the
Gulf’s potential as a source of domestic oil.
“This is the exact reason why Republicans have been pressuring the Department of the Interior to issue offshore permits—America has abundant oil and natural gas reserves, we simply need to allow the hardworking men and women in the energy industry to do their job,” Hastings said in a statement.
Republicans and drill-state Democrats have alleged that the Obama administration is slow-walking the issuance of Gulf drilling permits.
Our economy is a dire state, with unemployment persisting at 9% or above for months (though unexpectedly, of course – every time). The administration could help create tens of thousands of good jobs by allowing oil companies to drill for some of the vast resources within our own borders. Instead, President Windmill and the Democrats are busy trying to figure out how to plow billions more of taxpayer dollars into useless “stimulus” projects that don’t produce any economic growth at all. Oh, and we’re using taxpayer dollars to fund drilling in other countries, like Brazil – mystifying, unless you consider that Comrade Obama is at the helm.
Seems like a simple choice, but teh enlightened ones can’t see it.
