There’s LOTS of commentary on this today. I like Stacy McCain’s take:
Some samples of the Left’s reaction, first Firedoglake:
Anti-Public Employee Bill Passes Senate
in Wisconsin; Only the Beginning of the FightYeah: The bill is “anti-public employee,” rather than “anti-union shakedown” see? And the lefties — who just lost the fight – insist the fight is just beginning. And now MSNBC:
GOP rams anti-union bill through Wis. Senate
Right: They rammed it through — after the Democrats had been playing hooky in Illinois for three whole weeks. So you get the idea of the combination of denial and rage this has produced, which was matched by the left-wing protest pests who practically rioted the Capitol in Madison after the bill passed.
I remember when Tea Party people had peaceful, orderly rallies on the steps of state capitol buildings and liberals portrayed these events as frightening hatefests where angry mobs were incited to violence. Meanwhile, the Left runs amok inside the Wisconsin capitol, and we’re supposed to believe this is an admirable demonstration on behalf of “worker’s rights.”
I love the language the LSM uses to portray the situation. Loud hyperbole seems to work best when you know you’re beat, but you really can’t do anything about it – except riot and destroy public property.
