Update 4: Think I figured it out. If you try to vote, and find that you can’t please leave me a comment. Thanks.
Update 3: No dice. Trying something else.
Update 2: Tried one thing, and have put the poll back. We’ll see if it works.
Update: I had a poll attached to this post, but for some reason, it was only showing the results of the first two voters, and wasn’t allowing others to vote. So, I took it down until I can figure out why the WP Polls thing isn’t working correctly. Sorry.
Discovery News’ Tech News has an interesting piece by Roger Lamb that asks the question “Are Smart Phones Worth It?” Lamb examines how these powerful tools have changed the way we communicate, find information, and capture experiences. There’s a quote in the article that made me stop and think:
“From a societal impact standpoint, I think it’s sad to watch people capturing experiences rather than having experiences,” says digital strategist Renny Gleeson. “It’s certainly not all bad, but these devices enable both enhanced focus and diverted attention in equal measures. The question is what do we do with that?”
What DO we do with that? How much focus does your smart phone get? How often do you get distracted from having experiences while you’re trying to capture experiences, or find/monitor information?
