Black Coal: A Video
This is interesting. Shot in Super 16mm with Kodak black and white film. I just like the feel of it – it’s somber and kind of mysterious-looking. Official video for Stone Jack Jones’ ‘Black Coal’ featuring West Virginia. myspace.com/stonejackjones
Alaskan Tea Partiers Give Murkowski a Taste of Her Own Medicine
So Lisa Murkowski (Mookowski? Murchowski?) lost the Republican primary for Senate in Alaska to Joe Miller. Instead of submitting to the will of the people and accepting defeat, she declared herself a write-in candidate in the election. Okay, so this is America – if it’s legal, well, I guess you can do that. There were [...]
GCN 2010: It Takes a Lot of Faces
Glorious Christmas Nights is a production by the West End Assembly of God in Richmond Virginia. We’ve been rehearsing for this year’s show for several weeks now, but the preparations have been going on a lot longer. The show runs 19 times in the first two weeks of December, and about 25,000 people will see [...]

All Fired Up
Everybody has something that, in their world, equals serenity. And very often that something changes depending on where you are and what you are doing… In Elementary School, that something for me was a place- a tree behind my parent’s house. I went there to get away from everything and everyone. I don’t really remember [...]

Amazing Artist: France Belleville-Van Stone
I ran across this amazing artist more than a year ago, and had nearly forgotten about it – I was cleaning up some bookmarks when I saw the “wagonized” link (a reference to her blog). Whether it’s people, or shoes, or objects, she’s a talented sketcher with awesome skills. Check her out on flickr, too.
“The Commuter” – A Short Film with an Interesting Twist
Here’s a short film by the McHenry Brothers (I never heard of them either, but that’s not important). It stars Dev Patel and Pamela Anderson, and is sort of engaging. The really interesting thing about it: it was shot entirely with the Nokia N8 phone.
If You’re a Taxpayer, These Charts Should Make You Mad
I present you with the charts, and a brief description. The article they’re from is by Deroy Murdock at National Review Online. Chart #1 – this is a depiction of the money-sucking Rube Goldberg contraption that’s supposed to bring health care to everybody, and lower costs (one question would be whose costs?). That’s right, it’s…ObamaCare. [...]
Interesting Artist: Jose Pulido
I clicked on a random link (that had an interesting little drawing), and discovered Jose Pulido. He does traditional Mexican drawings, and has imagined Star Wars characters in that genre. These are cool: He also has a site where he sells t-shirts with his designs.
A Little Comedy from NJ Governor Chris Christie
Chris Christie wonders aloud about the items the NJ legislature intends to take up when they come back from vacation – and compares them to the things they’re NOT considering. (Thanks, RightScoop) Gov. Chris Christie accuses Legislature of not addressing N.J. pension, benefits, education reforms
