It’s Glen Allen Day today. The local Ruritans sponsor this little slice of Americana, where neighbors celebrate their community with a parade, and a day of activities at a local park. The parade starts at the Glen Allen Supermarket, right where the railroad crosses Mountain Road, and proceeds about 3/4 of a mile to Crump Park. The parade features local high school marching bands from Hermitage (my school), and the new Glen Allen High School, community and church groups, county and state politicians, and cool classic cars owned by local residents. It runs right in front of our house, so we grabbed a cup of coffee and stood at the fence to see the show.
